Online Workshop – Storytelling and iPhone Video

 

This is an online version of our in-person 1-day workshops.

 

The course will consist of presentations from award-winning TV directors and producers followed by directed exercises, so that you can learn how to create your very own story video. And you can do all this in your own time, at your own pace from the comfort of your own home.

 

Part 1: Learn how to communicate your message by crafting compelling stories
You’ll learn:
  • Why video story telling is the most powerful tool in the art of persuasion.
  • Just how important it is to get really clear on what you want to communicate.
  • Why it’s really important to not only know who your intended audience is but why you should take their ‘listing filters’ into consideration when crafting your message.
  • How to turn all that information into a really compelling story, triggering your audience’s emotional control centres and mirror neurons.
So, that by the end of your video story they will think, feel and act the way you intended them to.

 

Part 2: Learn how to Film your Story.
You’ll learn:
  • How to Interview.
  • How to Shoot – lighting, framing, cutaways, sequences.
Part 3: Learn how to Edit your Story so that you can make your very own story video.

Reuben Pillsbury

 

Makes shows for TVNZ, TV3, BBC, Animal Planet and National Geographic. He won Best Director at the NZ Film and Television Awards and also judges those awards. A board member of the NZ Screen Directors Guild, he co-founded Real TV in 2010 with Kim Goodhart.

Kim Goodhart

 

Has worked on multiple tv shows as a Producer. With her background in psychology she’s been able to meld a powerful combination of storytelling with psychology to make massive change happen within organisations.

Belinda Simpson

 

Belinda has worked in TV for over 20 years directing some of our most recognisable shows –Intrepid Journeys, Downsizeme, Top Model and X Factor. She was nominated for ‘Best Director’ for her Intrepid Journey’s episode which followed Kevin Milnes sobering adventure to the Ukraine.
